Lai Oso, renowned Nigerian professor of communication, is dead

By Our Correspondent  Lai Oso, a Nigerian communication scholar and professor at the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (FCMS), Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, is dead. Though the authorities at LASU are yet to confirm what many have described as an unfortunate development, some of Prof. Oso’s colleagues on the campus confirmed the news in separate interviews with Our Correspondent. The newspaper gathered that the don died in a ghastly auto accident Saturday evening on his way back to Lagos from Delta State University (DELSU), Abaraka, where he reportedly went to serve as an external examiner. By Our Correspondent The Lamidi Apapa led National Working Committee, (NWC)of Labour Party, has congratulated the former National Chairman of the Party, Barrister Julius Abure as he clocks 52 years on Saturday. The Party in a statement issued on Saturday and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr Abayomi Arabambi said the Party is happy to note that the former National Chairman, has turned 52 in good health and wishes him God's sustenance in the same.  The Party also enjoined all party supporters and members of the public to join in the prayer for the good health of the former National Chairman. OGUN: BANTUN EGBA ARRESTED OVER ALLEGED ORILE ITOKU LAND DEAL

By Kunle Adebakin  The BANTUN of Egbaland and Odofin Itoku township in Abeokuta South Local Government, Chief Kehinde Sofenwa has been arrested and detained at Oke Itoku Police Division over his alleged involvement in a land sales deal. The Chief was alleged to have, in collaboration with some Itoku Chiefs, sold a vast expanse of land belonging to Itoku township in their homesteads located at Afo village via Kobape in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area for a whooping sum of Thirty-Five Million Naira (N35,000,000).  Investigation revealed that the land involved measured about 25 acres which Chief Sofenwa and other Chiefs sold at N1.4m per acre.  Following a report made by the Baale in Afo Itoku Village to the Nigeria Police in Owode Egba, Chief Kehinde Sofenwa, it was learnt was invited by the Police for interrogation.  It was also learnt that he was released having been bailed by Chief Wole Odekunle, the Bada Asoju Oba Egba but refused to report at the same station ...

Salient Times gathered that Abure who was whisked away after leaving the Presidential Election Tribunal on Friday was unable to meet his bail condition and was still with the police at the time of this report. It was gathered that he was arrested over his failure to honour police invitation on various allegations levelled against him. Outrage As Police Officers Assault Politician's Family.

By Our Correspondent Armed police officers on June 3rd, 2023 invaded the residence of a septuagenarian, Alhaja Somoye Adebimpe Monsurat, assaulting her and her grandson, Somoye Oluwatosin Khalid; leaving them in shock and  varying degrees of injury. Alhaja Somoye is the mother of embattled Hon. Somoye Sheu Adedolapo, a politician  from Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State. Our Correspondent gathered that during the attack, the armed police officers ransacked the whole house and vandalized many properties within it. The latest in the installment of unending attacks on Hon. Somoye Sheu Adedolapo's family took place at about 8pm, at one Mrs. Ogunsola Ololade's house in Ijebu Ode area of Ogun State.
